Terms of use

These terms govern the use of amorcia.com and the services available on it. Creating an account means accepting them.

No fundraising is open at this date. Financial terms, fees, escrow, refunds and payouts, will be published as a separate document before campaigns open. Nothing below constitutes a financial commitment.

Sign-up is open to any adult, or to a legal entity represented by someone authorised to act on its behalf.

• An account is personal: it may not be lent or transferred.
• The information you provide must be accurate. A project owner using a false identity misleads people who commit their money.
• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential. Two-factor authentication by email code is available on every account, and strongly recommended for project owners.

Amorcia distinguishes four roles, chosen at sign-up and changeable afterwards. Each grants different rights and carries different commitments.

• Backer: follows and supports projects, comments.
• Project owner: creates and runs campaigns, commits to milestones and reports on them.
• Mentor: supports project owners. Mentoring is a commitment of effort, never of outcome.
• Institution: acts on behalf of an organisation, and must have authority to bind it.

Every project is moderated before publication. This is not a formality: it is what separates a platform from a noticeboard.

• The owner warrants that they hold the rights to the text, images and video they publish.
• Announced milestones bind their author. A milestone declared reached must be provable.
• Amorcia may refuse, suspend or remove a project that is misleading, unlawful, contrary to these terms, or whose owner has stopped responding. The reason is always communicated.
• A published project remains its owner's property. Amorcia claims no rights over it beyond permission to display and promote it on the platform.

The list below is not exhaustive, but it covers what leads to immediate suspension.

• Impersonating a person, an organisation or an affiliation.
• Describing a project in a way that does not match reality, or hiding something a reasonable backer would want to know.
• Publishing hateful or defamatory content, or content that invades someone's privacy.
• Harvesting other users' data, automating access to the site, or attempting to bypass its protections.
• Using the platform for an activity unlawful in the owner's country or in that of the backers targeted.

Amorcia is a technical intermediary. We do not run the projects, and we guarantee neither their success nor the truthfulness of what their owners announce.

What we take on: reasonable availability of the service, security of accounts and data, moderation of projects before publication, and handling of reports.

What we cannot guarantee: that a project succeeds, that an owner keeps their commitments, or that an announced reward is delivered. Moderation reduces that risk, it does not remove it. Read projects before backing them.

Any content can be reported, from the page carrying it or by email to [email protected]. A report is reviewed by a person, never by an automated system alone, and its author is told what came of it.

You may close your account at any time from your profile, without giving a reason. The exact handling, complete erasure or anonymisation depending on what your account left behind, is described in the privacy policy. Amorcia may likewise close an account for a serious breach of these terms, after informing the person concerned.

These terms may change. Any substantial change will be announced on this page and, if it concerns you, by email. Governing law and competent jurisdiction will be specified once the publishing entity is incorporated, and will appear in the legal notice.
