Africa's Business Heroes
Offered by Jack Ma Foundation
Africa's Business Heroes is one of the best-funded entrepreneurship competitions on the continent. The Jack Ma Foundation shares $1.5 million each year among ten finalists, with the winner receiving up to $300,000, with no equity taken.
It is open to all 54 African countries and aimed at established businesses: expect to need around three years of activity and demonstrable revenue. This is not a seed programme but an accelerator of visibility as much as of cash, since the media coverage finalists receive often outweighs the prize itself.
Selection runs long, over several months and several rounds. Plan for real time, not just form-filling time.
