Choose Africa is the initiative of the French Development Agency and its subsidiary Proparco dedicated to financing African startups and small and medium businesses. It works not as a competition but as a financing line, deployed through loans, guarantees and equity stakes.
Most of it flows through local intermediaries: partner banks, investment funds and microfinance institutions operating in your country. In practice you usually do not apply directly, you identify the accredited partner closest to your size and sector.
The range covered is wide, which makes the scheme relevant both to an established SME and to a fast-growing company looking for debt rather than equity.
