The Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship finances education technology companies in five countries: Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda.
The funding, $60,000 to $70,000, is non-dilutive: the foundation takes no equity. It comes with technical support and introductions to schools and ministries, which often removes the sector's main obstacle, institutional access.
Cohorts are organised by country, on separate timetables. The programme looks for solutions already deployed with real learners, backed by usage data, rather than platforms still in development.
